Boyfriend Arrested After Missing Supermarket Worker Found Dead at Home in Batu Pahat

Date:

A 41-year-old supermarket worker, who had been reported missing for several days, was found dead in a suspected murder at a double-storey terrace house in Taman Damai II early today.

Police discovered the victim at around 1 a.m. during a raid. Authorities believe she was smothered with a pillow by her boyfriend, a 44-year-old unemployed man.

The suspect was found at the scene with self-inflicted injuries to his neck and left arm. Investigations indicate the alleged killing occurred on Tuesday morning. The victim’s brother had lodged a missing person report after she failed to return home.

The suspect is currently receiving treatment at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital and has been remanded for seven days.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries either the death penalty or a prison sentence of 30 to 40 years. If not sentenced to death, the law mandates a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.

Batu Pahat police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, confirmed the incident and said an official statement would be released soon.
