Bright Green Clothes, Bald Heads: Police Intensify Search For 10 Tanah Merah Depot Escapees

Date:

Authorities are searching for 10 undocumented migrants who escaped from the Tanah Merah Immigration Depot, with police urging members of the public to immediately report any sightings.

Among the physical descriptions provided are bright green clothing and shaved or bald heads. Kelantan police said the escapees are believed to still be wearing the detainee uniforms issued at the depot.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the Kelantan police headquarters said some of the clothing reportedly bears identification numbers, including 18101 and 18802. Their last known location was detected at Bukit Tebu in Tanah Merah.

The 10 individuals comprise seven Thai nationals, one Indonesian, one Bangladeshi national and one person of Rohingya ethnicity, according to police.

Members of the public who come across anyone matching the descriptions have been advised not to approach or take action themselves. Instead, they should contact the authorities immediately and provide any information that could assist in locating the escapees.

Information can be channelled to the Tanah Merah District Control Centre through 09-955 6222 (Tanah Merah District Police Headquarters), 09-955 6223 (Tanah Merah Police Station) or WhatsApp at 011-2955 5518.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat previously said the 10 individuals were under the custody of the Kelantan Immigration Department at the time of the incident.

He said police would conduct further investigations into the escape while continuing efforts to track down all 10 detainees. The public are also reminded to remain vigilant and allow law enforcement personnel to handle the situation.
