Date:

A bus driver has been arrested after allegedly attempting to rape a female factory employee during a journey home in Nakhon Ratchasima.

The victim, identified as Ms. A, lodged a police report at Cho Ho Police Station after the incident, which reportedly took place while she was the sole passenger on the company bus.

According to her statement, the driver stopped at a petrol station in Cho Ho, claiming he needed to switch vehicles, before allegedly sexually assaulting her by touching her inappropriately and attempting to coerce her into sex.

The woman managed to break free and ran to seek help from bystanders at the petrol station, later providing police with a video recording of the incident as evidence.

Following the report, police launched an immediate manhunt, with orders from Nakhon Ratchasima police chief Narongsak Phromtha to swiftly track down the suspect due to the seriousness of the case and clear evidence presented.

Investigators later arrested the suspect in Huai Thalaeng district after he fled to his hometown.

Authorities had initially been preparing to obtain an arrest warrant if the suspect could not be located.

Meanwhile, the bus company has confirmed that the driver has been dismissed and will face legal action. The company owner has also arranged to meet the victim to offer an apology and provide emotional support.

Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
