Cannon Fire Exercises In Putrajaya On June 3 And 5, Public Advised Not To Panic

Date:

Residents, particularly those living near the federal administrative centre in Putrajaya, have been advised not to be alarmed by upcoming cannon fire exercises scheduled for June 3 and 5.

Putrajaya district police chief Aidi Sham Mohamed said the cannon salutes will be carried out by the Malaysian Armed Forces in conjunction with the Trooping of the Colours Parade for His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, at Dataran Pahlawan Negara, Presint 1.

In a broader ceremonial context, such military salutes are traditionally conducted as part of official state events to mark royal and national celebrations, and are carefully coordinated to ensure public safety and minimal disruption.

He said two cannon shots will be fired during the full rehearsal scheduled at 8.30am on Wednesday (June 3), serving as a preparatory exercise ahead of the main event.

The actual ceremony on Friday (June 5) will feature a 21-gun salute, which will be conducted at the same venue and time as part of the formal royal parade proceedings.

Authorities have also announced temporary road closures affecting three major routes starting from 7am, including Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Lebuh Perdana Timur, and surrounding roads near Complex E.

Traffic congestion is expected between 7am and 10am during the rehearsal and event days, with motorists advised to plan their journeys early and follow police instructions to avoid delays.

In a wider public safety advisory, road users are encouraged to use alternative routes and remain alert to traffic diversions implemented during the ceremonial proceedings to ensure smooth traffic flow.
