Car Deformed Into “V” Shape After Drunk Driving Crash, Six Including Children Injured

A serious car accident occurred yesterday in Ji’an Township, Hualien County, leaving six people injured, including four children. The 34-year-old female driver, surnamed Luo, was unlicensed and driving under the influence, when her vehicle lost control while changing lanes and overtaking on Ji-Feng Road Section 3. The car flipped, severely deforming the roof into a “V” shape.

Inside the vehicle were Luo’s two children, her brother’s three children, and a 17-year-old daughter in the front passenger seat. An 11-year-old boy, surnamed Chen, briefly lost heartbeat and breathing at the scene but was revived and remains in the ICU. Other injuries include Luo’s son with a left thigh fracture, her daughter with minor abrasions, and two Chen nephews aged 10 and 7 with left thigh fractures.

Police reported that a dashcam from a car behind captured the accident. Luo’s blood alcohol content measured 0.58 mg/L. The case has been referred to the district prosecutor for further investigation.
