Childminder Arrested After Viral Video Shows Alleged Abuse Of Four-Year-Old Boy

Date:

A female childminder whose video allegedly showing her beating and forcing a young child to sit outside a house went viral has been arrested by police at her home in Sendayan, Seremban, last night.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the boy’s parents recognised their child from the viral video before lodging a police report.

He said the Seremban District Police Headquarters received a report on the alleged abuse of a four-year-old boy at about 8pm yesterday.

The incident is believed to have occurred at a residential area in Seremban.

The parents only became aware of the abuse after viewing a 1 minute 15 second video circulating on social media.

The video reportedly showed a woman striking a young boy behind a house, and the child was later identified by his parents.

Initial investigations found that the victim had been placed under the care of the suspect, who lived not far from the family home, for around seven months.

The child was subsequently taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Acting on intelligence and ongoing investigations, police arrested a 60-year-old woman at about 9.45pm at the scene to assist further inquiries.

Police will apply for remand at the Seremban Court to facilitate investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

Authorities stressed that child abuse cases are taken seriously and advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could disrupt investigations.

Members of the public with relevant information have been urged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Kamarul Ariffin Kamaruzaman at 06-6033222.
