A California man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his wife’s lover to death when he found him in bed with his wife and their two young children.
Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, allegedly attacked Nicholas Garcia, 28, with a pocketknife at his home in Anaheim on Oct 24.
Garcia was reportedly wearing only underwear and lying in bed alongside Pinedalopez’s wife and their two children when the incident occurred.
Prosecutors said Pinedalopez stabbed Garcia repeatedly, leaving him fatally wounded at the scene. His wife and the children, aged two and four, were unharmed.
According to the New York Post, the two children were still in bed when the alleged attack took place.
Pinedalopez has since been charged with one felony count of murder and an additional felony enhancement for the personal use of a weapon.
If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in prison. He was scheduled to appear in a California court on Oct 27.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office said Anaheim police were called to the home following reports of a stabbing, where officers found Pinedalopez covered in blood.
Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer condemned the violence, highlighting the impact on the young children who witnessed the incident.
“Violence is never the answer, and it is truly heartbreaking that these young children had to witness their father commit such a horrific act of brutality in their own home,” he said.
