A 77-year-old man was killed after being struck and run over by a bus while crossing the road at the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) Bus Terminal on Friday.
The victim, Mat Ghani Mamat, died at the scene at about noon after suffering severe injuries to his body.
Kuala Terengganu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the bus was driven by a 66-year-old man who was travelling from Kuala Besut and entering the terminal when the accident happened.
He said the driver was turning into the terminal when the bus failed to avoid Mat Ghani, who was walking across the road.
“Before the incident, the victim had reportedly stopped at a nearby eatery,” he said.
Mat Ghani’s body was subsequently taken to the forensic unit at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for further action.
Azli said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
