A suspected drug dealer’s attempt to flee from authorities ended in failure after he rammed into two General Operations Force (PGA) vehicles before being arrested in Kampung Semuba Chetok, Kelantan, yesterday.
The 28-year-old suspect was detained at about 6.30pm following a 1.5-kilometre chase by PGA officers during an operation under Ops Taring Wawasan Kelantan.
Briged Tenggara PGA Commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain said officers initially spotted a suspicious vehicle along the Pasir Mas–Tanah Merah road after receiving intelligence on drug distribution activities.
He said two PGA vehicles later blocked the suspect’s car from the front and rear before instructing the driver to step out, but the man instead broke through and sped off towards Tanah Merah.
During the pursuit, the suspect’s Perodua Myvi reportedly crashed into an oncoming PGA vehicle before reversing and colliding with another patrol car in a desperate bid to escape.
The suspect then abandoned his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, leading to a brief struggle with officers before he was successfully apprehended.
A search of the suspect uncovered 53 ‘pil kuda’ tablets and one ‘pil epam’ worth about RM540, along with a sling bag, a mobile phone and RM375 in cash.
Investigations revealed the suspect had allegedly obtained the drugs from a man in Kampung Limbat, Kota Bharu.
He also admitted to crashing into the PGA vehicles out of desperation to avoid arrest. Authorities confirmed no damage was recorded on the patrol vehicles involved.
The suspect, originally from Kampung Binjai Kangkong, has been handed over to the Pasir Mas District Police Headquarters for further investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants in duty.
