Drug Suspects Arrested After Police Chase Leads To Multi-Vehicle Crash

Date:

A driver’s attempt to flee from police in Wangsa Maju on Friday led to a drug discovery after a high-speed chase ended in a multi-vehicle crash.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the incident occurred at about 5.30pm when officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJN), Wangsa Maju District Police Headquarters, were tracking a suspicious Perodua Viva.

He said the driver and a passenger allegedly refused to stop when instructed by police, prompting a chase towards Jalan Kuching.

Upon reaching the location, the driver was believed to have driven dangerously, weaving between lanes before losing control and crashing into three vehicles caught in traffic congestion.

No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident, and the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Both suspects, aged 40 and 42, were later arrested at the scene by BSJN officers.

A subsequent search uncovered heroin weighing 19.63 grammes.

Police said the suspects have been remanded and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Authorities urged members of the public with information on the case to contact the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline or nearby police stations.

The incident also went viral on social media following the dramatic escape attempt and crash.
