Early Morning Collision Claims Life At Bukit Kemangi, Three Others Hurt

Date:

A man was killed while three others were injured in a two-car collision at Bukit Kemangi, along the Baling-Grik Road, early this morning.

Baling Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said his department received an emergency call regarding the accident at 2.14am.

The Kedah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said the crash involved a Proton Saga and a Proton Waja. Emergency teams were immediately dispatched to the scene to assist the victims and manage the situation.

He said the Proton Saga was carrying three men who were employees of a fast-food restaurant, while the Proton Waja was occupied by a male driver. One passenger from the Proton Saga was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health, although the victim was not trapped inside the vehicle.

The driver of the Proton Waja, meanwhile, was found trapped in the driver’s seat and required assistance from rescuers. Two other victims, including the driver of the Proton Saga, sustained injuries and were later sent to Baling Hospital for treatment.

Zulkhairi said the identities of all victims have yet to be confirmed. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.

The accident caused traffic congestion stretching almost one kilometre in both directions despite occurring in the early hours of the morning. The route is also believed to be a location where road accidents frequently occur, raising concerns over safety among motorists travelling along the stretch.
