Elderly Man Dies After BMW Crashes Into Driving Institute Fence

Date:

An elderly man died after the BMW he was driving veered off the road and crashed into the fence of a driving institute along Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan near Alur Tuman on Friday.

Marang district police chief Superintendent Mohd Sofian Redzuan said police received a report from members of the public regarding the accident in front of the driving institute at around 7.30am.

He said initial investigations found that the 65-year-old victim was travelling from Masjid Kelulut towards his home in Pulau Kerengga when he lost control of the vehicle.

“The car then skidded towards the right side of the road before crashing into the fence of the driving institute. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries,” he said when contacted on Friday.

The victim’s body was later sent to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) for a post-mortem examination.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which involves causing death through reckless or dangerous driving.

Authorities continue to remind motorists to remain cautious while driving, especially when travelling on busy routes, as sudden loss of control can lead to fatal consequences.
