Employer Allegedly Rapes Worker While Wife Records And Forced to Work Without Pay

Date:

A 22-year-old female worker is believed to have been raped by her employer in Makassar, South Sulawesi, in an incident that occurred in early January.

Shockingly, the suspect’s wife reportedly recorded the act on her mobile phone, according to detikSulsel.

Alita Karen of the Secretariat of the South Sulawesi Women’s Issues Monitoring Foundation (YPMP) said the recording was allegedly made to intimidate the victim into working without pay.

“According to witness statements, the recording was used as a threat. The suspect reportedly said, ‘You must work here without payment.’ The victim was allegedly expected to work for 15 years,” Alita said.

The victim had been employed in the couple’s business for three months.

Alita added that the police were urged to conduct a thorough investigation, as the victim may not be the only person abused, given that many previous employees did not stay long at the workplace.

“There could still be other victims. On top of the meager wages, imagine working from 7 p.m. to 12 noon and earning only 60,000 rupiah (RM14.35),” she said.

The incident is believed to have taken place at the suspect’s residence in Barombong, Makassar, between January 1 and 2, 2026. The victim was reportedly lured by the suspect’s wife, forced to engage in sexual acts with her husband, and recorded as a form of intimidation.

The case has been reported to the Makassar police with the assistance of YPMP South Sulawesi.

Both suspects are currently facing trial, and the police have stated they will take strict action against the couple for allegations of entrapment, extortion, and premeditated rape.
