An engaged couple were among three individuals arrested after allegedly stealing food deliveries from the lobby of a residential building in Kajang on Tuesday.
Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received a report at 2.27am from a security supervisor, who alleged that food deliveries intended for residents had been stolen.
Investigations led to the arrest of two men and a woman, all Malaysian nationals aged between their 20s and 30s, who are believed to be involved in the thefts.
“All three suspects are unemployed. Police also seized a shirt bearing the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) logo and insignia,” Naazron said in a statement on Friday.
Police checks revealed that the suspects have previous records involving drug-related and criminal offences.
Although no stolen food was found in their possession at the time of the arrests, CCTV footage allegedly captured the suspects committing similar thefts on several different occasions.
Urine tests conducted on the engaged couple — a man and a woman — returned positive for methamphetamine.
The couple have been remanded until Saturday, while the third suspect was released on police bail.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft, Section 89(a) of the Police Act 1967, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
