Exhaust Stunt Sparks Blaze, Severely Damages Myvi at Klang Car Showcase

Date:

A Perodua Myvi was almost completely destroyed after it caught fire during a car show held at a shopping mall compound in Klang on Sunday night.

According to mStar, the incident occurred just minutes after another vehicle performed a flaming exhaust stunt as part of the showcase. A video circulating online shows sparks shooting out from the exhaust before the fire broke out.

The sparks are believed to have spread to a Perodua Myvi parked nearby, which was soon engulfed in flames and suffered extensive damage.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said his department received an emergency call at about 9.25pm.

“The fire involved two vehicles, a Perodua Myvi and a Toyota Vios. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze shortly after arriving at the scene,” he said in a statement.

He added that the Myvi sustained about 90 per cent damage, while the Toyota Vios was only lightly affected, with an estimated two per cent damage.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and the situation was brought under control soon after emergency personnel arrived.

The incident has since triggered online discussions over safety precautions at car shows, especially those involving pyrotechnic-style exhaust demonstrations in public areas.
