FamilyMart has issued another statement apologising over an incident involving one of its staff members who was allegedly seen throwing hot oden soup at a delivery rider, as well as addressing the time taken to release updates on the case.
The convenience store chain said the employee involved has been suspended immediately following the incident, while the company continues to monitor the welfare of the affected delivery rider.
It added that it is fully cooperating with authorities in their investigation and conducting an internal probe in accordance with proper procedures and applicable laws, which require due process and time to complete.
FamilyMart stressed that it does not tolerate any rude, unsafe, or disrespectful behaviour towards customers, employees, delivery partners, or any business associates within its outlets.
The company also reiterated its commitment to ensuring all stores remain safe and respectful environments, adding that staff have been reminded and further reinforced on proper customer service conduct and training.
The incident went viral on social media after a video surfaced showing a staff member at a Kota Damansara The Core outlet allegedly responding rudely to a delivery rider before pouring hot soup towards him.
FamilyMart previously confirmed that the staff member has been suspended pending the outcome of the internal investigation.
