A farm supervisor suffered serious injuries after he was allegedly attacked by a group of men armed with machetes, metal rods and wooden sticks during an armed altercation at workers’ quarters in Kampung RKT Kesedar Chalil, Gua Musang, on Monday.

Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the incident occurred at about 3.15pm after a group of men believed to represent a company with interests in the area arrived at the workers’ quarters seeking clarification over a permit to enter a forest reserve.

He said a dispute reportedly broke out after a man was allegedly assaulted by two individuals from the group.

“A farm worker who attempted to intervene and break up the dispute was subsequently believed to have been attacked by several individuals using weapons including a machete, metal rods and wooden sticks,” he said in a statement today.

The 35-year-old local man sustained multiple serious injuries, including a fractured left arm, a cracked left shinbone and injuries to a tendon in his left leg.

He also suffered bruising and swelling around his left eye as well as bleeding from his nose following the alleged assault.

Police are investigating the case under Sections 326 and 148 of the Penal Code, relating to voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons and rioting while armed.

Choon Foo urged members of the public not to speculate about the incident, warning that unverified claims could cause confusion within the community.
