A resident’s quick response in putting out a fire involving a washing machine prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of a house in Lorong Perkasa 3, Desa Senadin Phase 6, late Wednesday night.
Lutong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Henry Jugah said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 11.31pm.
He said a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) with five firefighters was immediately dispatched to the location, which was about 10 kilometres from the station, and arrived at 11.41pm.
Upon arrival, the operation team found that the washing machine fire had already been extinguished by the occupants before firefighters reached the scene.
Firefighters then carried out inspections and monitoring at the house while gathering information from the residents to ensure the area was safe and no remaining flames or fire hazards were present.
Henry said the operation was concluded at 12.09am after the situation was confirmed to be under control, before the team returned to the station.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
