A fire broke out at a convenience store along Green Road here on Sunday night, damaging about 35% of the premises.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Batu Lintang and Padungan fire stations were dispatched after receiving an emergency call at 8.19pm.
According to Bomba, the fire started at the front of the shop before spreading towards the centre of the premises.
Firefighters moved quickly to contain the blaze, while ventilation at the centre and rear of the shop helped limit the fire from spreading further.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The firefighting operation was completed at 9.03pm, Bomba said.
The department is still investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the total value of the losses.
