A 37-year-old woman was rescued after falling while hiking near a waterfall close to the observation tower at Bukit Pelindung in Kuantan on Saturday morning.
The Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said the victim sustained injuries to her head, arms and legs during the incident, prompting an emergency response to the popular hiking location.
According to JBPM public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria, firefighters received a distress call at 9.16am before a rescue team from the Kuantan Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arriving at the foot of the hill at 9.24am, rescuers trekked approximately five kilometres to reach the injured hiker. The victim was given immediate first aid before efforts were made to safely bring her down the hill.
Outdoor recreational activities can carry unexpected risks, particularly on uneven and slippery terrain. Hikers are advised to take the necessary safety precautions and remain alert throughout their journey.
After successfully transporting the woman to the base of the hill, firefighters handed her over to an ambulance team for further treatment at a nearby hospital.
