Flood Victims In Sabah Rise To 300 As Paitan District Villages Affected

The number of people displaced by flooding in Sabah has increased to 300 individuals from 93 families as of this morning, up from 270 evacuees from 82 families reported yesterday, the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) confirmed.

Floodwaters have now affected 30 villages in the Paitan district, prompting authorities to open five temporary relief centres (PPS) to shelter those displaced.

The centres include Batagon Darat Community Centre, PCS Purubatu Church, Surau Nur Hikmah Kampung Kaindangan, SK Lubang Buaya Hall, and the Paitan District Open Hall.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms across several interior areas of Sabah throughout today, indicating that rainfall and potential flooding may continue.
