Four Arrested After Teen Girl Allegedly Bullied And Threatened For Money In Sabah

Date:

Police have arrested four individuals in connection with an alleged bullying and criminal intimidation case involving a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Membakut, Sabah.

In a statement released on Monday, the Beaufort District Police Headquarters (IPD Beaufort) confirmed that officers launched an investigation after receiving a report from the teenager, who claimed she had repeatedly been pressured for money and threatened by a group of individuals.

Acting swiftly on the information, officers from the Beaufort Criminal Investigation Division carried out an intelligence-led operation before successfully arresting all four suspects in several locations around the district.

The case is being investigated under Section 507B of the Penal Code for harassment or bullying that causes fear and emotional distress, as well as Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

Police said further investigations are ongoing to complete the investigation papers before the case is referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) for further legal action and instructions.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) also urged parents, schools and the wider community to remain vigilant over students’ safety and to report any incidents involving bullying, harassment or extortion without delay.

Authorities further advised the public not to spread unverified information or engage in speculation on social media, warning that doing so could interfere with the ongoing investigation and legal process.

The case has once again highlighted growing concerns over bullying and intimidation involving students, with police reiterating that such offences will be taken seriously and dealt with according to the law.
