Four MRSM Students Expelled Over Bullying Case, Two Others Suspended Pending Police Probe

Date:

Four students from a MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) in Johor have been expelled after being found to have been involved in a bullying incident, while two others have been suspended pending the outcome of a police investigation.

MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the decision was reached after the MRSM Disciplinary Committee convened to deliberate on the case. He added that the remaining two students would remain suspended until police determine whether they had physically assaulted the victim.

Taking to Facebook on Tuesday, Asyraf described the emotional moment when the six students were collected by their parents following the disciplinary hearing. He stressed that the institution would continue to enforce its firm stance against bullying, reiterating the message, “#YouTouchYouGo”, which reflects MARA’s zero-tolerance policy.

The case surfaced after a woman, believed to be the victim’s mother, claimed on social media that her son had withdrawn from the MRSM because he could no longer endure repeated bullying by senior students. She alleged that the ordeal had severely affected his ability to focus on his studies, leaving him with no choice but to leave the institution.

Asyraf also revealed that junior students accused of possessing prohibited items are currently being investigated. However, he emphasised that any misconduct by the juniors could never justify acts of bullying or vigilante-style punishment carried out by senior students.

He thanked officers from MARA’s Secondary Education Division and the MRSM Disciplinary Committee for acting swiftly by completing investigations and convening the disciplinary meeting within 24 hours, in line with his directive. He said decisive action is necessary to ensure MRSM remains a safe learning environment and to send a clear message that bullying will not be tolerated.
