Four terrace houses in Taman Assamara, Taiping, were damaged after a fire broke out on Wednesday night.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call at 10.23pm.
He said no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
“When firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire was already raging at House No. 23 before spreading to the roofs of the neighbouring houses.
“House No. 23 suffered the most severe damage, with about 85% of the property destroyed, while House No. 22 sustained 50% damage.
“The roofs of the other two houses were also affected, with damage estimated at 10% and 30% respectively,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
The firefighting operation involved personnel from the Taiping and Kamunting Fire and Rescue Stations, assisted by volunteer fire brigades from Kuala Sepetang, Bagan Serai, and Kuala Kurau.
A total of 31 firefighters were deployed, supported by several emergency vehicles, including Compact Fire Rescue Tender (CFRT), Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) units, utility vehicles and a water tanker.
Sabarodzi said the operation commander first carried out a size-up assessment before implementing the RECEO firefighting strategy, with all personnel equipped with full personal protective equipment (PPE).
Firefighters used multiple hose lines, drawing water from fire engines and nearby hydrants to bring the blaze under control.
The fire was successfully contained by 11pm, and the operation concluded at 12.17am on Thursday.
