Two members of GISB Holdings (GISBH) were charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with allegedly confining a man in a workers’ dormitory in Seri Manjung five years ago.
Muhammad Suhaiil Nasiruddin, 42, and his brother Muhammad U’rwah Nasiruddin, 33 — both sons of GISBH’s Chief Executive Officer — pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Magistrate Fakhrul Razzi Abd Hamid.
According to the charge, the two brothers were accused of wrongfully confining Muhammad Ikhlas Asy Syuhaimi Ismail, 35, for a month at the workers’ hostel of Ikhwan Supermarket in Bandar Seri Manjung between November and December 2020.
They were charged under Section 344 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same law, which carries a maximum jail term of three years and a fine upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nuranisah Ismah Muhammad Husaini proposed bail of RM8,000 for each accused. However, their lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), Nur Shaqira Ibrahim, requested a lower amount, citing that both men are married, self-employed, have no fixed income, and are supporting large families — with 10 and 14 children respectively.
The court set bail at RM3,000 each with one surety and scheduled the next mention of the case for December 17.
