Grab Probes Claims Riders Asked Customers For Tips After Viral Post

Date:

Grab is investigating allegations that some of its delivery riders asked customers for tips, following a viral Facebook post that shared screenshots of messages purportedly sent through the platform.

The post claimed that three riders requested tips from a customer, citing reasons such as needing money for petrol. Another rider was also accused of attempting to sell additional food items after the customer declined to tip.

In response, Grab told FMT that it is looking into the matter and will take appropriate disciplinary action if the claims are proven. The company stressed that its code of conduct strictly prohibits delivery partners from asking for or soliciting tips from customers.

Grab also reiterated that tipping on its platform is completely voluntary.

“Our official policy states that tipping is optional and should only be given as a form of appreciation for excellent service. Customers are under no obligation to tip,” the company said.
