A total of 33 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9am today, according to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Selangor recorded six areas with unhealthy readings, with Johan Setia registering the highest at 196, followed by Shah Alam at 171, Banting (166), Petaling Jaya (163), Klang (160) and Kuala Selangor (143).
In Sarawak, nine areas recorded unhealthy readings, namely Kuching (191), Samarahan (183), IPD Serian (178), Sibu (160), Sarikei (159), Bintulu (155), Sri Aman (153) and Mukah (124).
Johor recorded five areas with unhealthy readings, including Tangkak (160), Segamat (158), Batu Pahat (155), Kluang (152) and Larkin (128).
In Negeri Sembilan, Nilai recorded an API reading of 181, followed by Seremban (171) and Port Dickson (159).
Pahang recorded one unhealthy reading in Temerloh at 151.
Three areas in Melaka were also affected, with Alor Gajah recording 164, Bukit Rambai (161) and Melaka City (152).
In Perak, unhealthy readings were recorded in Seri Manjung (175), Tasek Ipoh (171), Tanjung Malim (153) and Pegoh Ipoh (152).
Kuala Lumpur also recorded unhealthy readings at Cheras (166) and Batu Muda (165), while Putrajaya recorded 174.
Meanwhile, 33 areas nationwide recorded API readings in the moderate range.
Under the API classification, readings of 0 to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 are classified as hazardous.
