Homeless Foreigner Arrested After Allegedly Scratching Eight Cars Near TRX

Date:

A foreign man has been arrested after allegedly scratching eight vehicles parked near The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Dang Wangi acting police chief Superintendent Nuzulan Mohd Din said police received a report from a vehicle owner who had parked a Zeekr 7X at the area before entering TRX at about 9.30am.

The complainant returned at around 12.15pm and discovered scratches on the bonnet of the vehicle, with losses estimated at RM3,000.

Nuzulan said police have so far received 11 reports over the incident, including three lodged by the TRX management.

“The suspect, who is also homeless, was arrested in the vicinity of TRX that afternoon,” he said during a press conference at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters on Thursday.

Initial investigations found that the 34-year-old suspect allegedly used a blunt object to scratch vehicles parked in the area.

Nuzulan said the suspect is believed to have mental health issues and has been remanded for four days from Thursday until Sunday to assist investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code.

“He will also be sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for a mental health assessment,” he said.
