Horn Sparks Highway Rage Attack: Motorcyclist Slashed With Meat Cleaver On Federal Highway

Date:

A routine morning commute turned violent when a motorcyclist was allegedly attacked with a meat cleaver following a road rage incident along the motorcycle lane of the Federal Highway near Section 13 here on Friday.

The shocking incident, which has since gone viral on social media, reportedly took place at around 7am as the 45-year-old victim was riding to work in Kuala Lumpur.

According to Shah Alam District Police Chief ACP Sarudin Samah, police received a report from a member of the public regarding the attack at approximately 8.19am.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim sounded his horn at a 43-year-old man who was allegedly obstructing the motorcycle lane.

The suspect is believed to have become enraged by the action before stopping by the roadside and attacking the victim with a meat cleaver. Incidents of road rage have increasingly raised concerns among road users, highlighting the dangers of allowing tempers to flare in traffic situations.

As a result of the attack, the victim suffered injuries to his head and hand. He was rushed to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

Police have since arrested the suspect to assist in investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon. The case has drawn significant public attention online, with many calling for stricter action against violent behaviour on the roads.

Members of the public who may have information related to the incident are urged to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Mohammad Amirul Zulkifli at 012-5583436 or visit the nearest police station.
