Hotel Death Leads To Drug Raid, Eight Arrested In Brickfields

he death of a man in a hotel room in the capital has led to the exposure of suspected drug abuse activities involving eight individuals, both locals and foreigners, following a raid early Sunday morning.

Brickfields District Police Chief, ACP Hoo Chang Hook, confirmed that police received a report regarding the death of a 31-year-old local man who was brought to the Emergency Department of Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) from a hotel in Jalan Stesen Sentral.

The case has been classified as sudden death report (SDR), he said.

The victim’s body was sent to HKL for post-mortem, which was conducted at 9.30am and completed around noon.

Authorities are still awaiting laboratory results to determine the exact cause of death.

Following intelligence gathered, a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) of the Brickfields district police headquarters carried out a raid on the hotel room at around 4am.

The operation led to the arrest of eight individuals of various nationalities, including two local men, two Singaporean men, and one each from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia, and China.

Police also discovered a transparent plastic packet believed to contain 1.5g of ketamine and three pills suspected to be ecstasy weighing 0.7g.

All suspects have been remanded for three days to assist investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
