A 50-year-old housewife from Perak has struck it big after winning the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 prize worth RM12,946,225.55 in the Aug 1 draw.
The lucky winner, who has now become a multi-millionaire, recorded her second jackpot success after previously winning about RM1.4 million through a Lucky Pick ticket three years ago.
According to Sports Toto, the woman and her husband had continued purchasing Lucky Pick numbers over the past three years after both of them lost their jobs during the movement control order (MCO) period.
She said the challenging period brought them closer, with her husband often taking her on trips to places they had visited when they were younger as a way to stay positive.
During one of their journeys to Lumut, the couple stopped in Sitiawan for lunch and decided to buy a Lucky Pick ticket, which eventually became a life-changing moment for them.
“Those were some of the hardest years of our lives. My husband never gave up on me and always encouraged me to keep moving forward.
“We never imagined that a simple stop during one of our trips would change our lives forever,” she said while collecting her winnings at the STM Lottery Sdn Bhd headquarters with her husband.
She recalled finding out about the win when her husband was watching the live draw results on his mobile phone.
The winner initially thought they had checked the numbers incorrectly as she found it hard to believe she had won another jackpot after her previous success.
The winning numbers, 5900 and 6900, were drawn during Draw No. 6165/26 on Saturday.
She said the prize money would be used as a retirement fund, while part of the winnings would be channelled towards helping underprivileged communities and supporting charitable causes.
Having gone through difficult times herself, she hoped the fortune would allow her and her husband to give back to society and make a positive impact on others.
