Illegal Grocery Shop And Barber Premises Demolished In DBKL Crackdown

Date:

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has demolished two unauthorised structures in Lorong Segambut Dalam that were being used as a grocery shop and a barber shop operated by foreign nationals.

The integrated enforcement operation was carried out with the cooperation of the Immigration Department (JIM), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd and Telekom Malaysia Berhad.

DBKL said the action was taken after the premises owners failed to comply with two enforcement notices requiring them to vacate the site following the construction of permanent extension structures without approval on road reserves and building side lanes.

“The notices were issued on July 29 and July 31 for offences under Section 69 of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.

“The demolition was carried out after the owners failed to comply with the instructions issued,” DBKL said in a statement.

The demolition and cleaning process proceeded smoothly after all business items and equipment were removed from the premises by the owners.

DBKL, Air Selangor and TNB also disconnected the water and electricity supplies to the premises in accordance with the required standard operating procedures (SOPs).

In addition, DBKL seized and relocated live chickens and fish to the Pest Control Unit’s storage facility under the DBKL Health and Environment Department for documentation purposes.

Meanwhile, JIM detained five foreign workers for further action after they were suspected of committing offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155).

DBKL said enforcement operations and monitoring activities would continue from time to time to ensure compliance with existing laws and regulations.
