Human Skeleton Found In Drum At Durian Tunggal Reserve Pond Classified As Murder

Date:

Police have confirmed that the remains found inside a drum at the Durian Tunggal Dam reserve in Machap Baru, Alor Gajah, on Sunday were human remains.

Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said the confirmation was made following a post-mortem examination.

He said the case has been classified as murder and is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“Investigations are still ongoing, while the victim’s gender and cause of death have yet to be determined.

“Police are still awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination, which continued today,” he said.

Police also found the remains alongside clothing, including a piece of cloth, a shirt and trousers.

The drum was discovered by three anglers, aged between 25 and 35, at around 11.40am on Sunday.

It was found about 15 metres from the road, prompting police to seek assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department to move the drum to the roadside before it was taken to hospital for further examination.

Based on the condition of the bones and remaining tissue, the remains are believed to have been inside the drum for at least three weeks.
