The Immigration Department detained four foreign men during a raid on an entertainment centre in Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur, which authorities said was believed to offer performances by foreign nationals.
The operation, carried out at 12.05am yesterday, resulted in the arrest of three Chinese nationals and one Filipino national, aged between 21 and 31.
Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the operation followed public information and a month-long intelligence-gathering effort by the Intelligence and Special Operations Division at the Immigration Department headquarters in Putrajaya.
The operation was also conducted with assistance from officers from the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) headquarters and Kuala Lumpur.
“Four foreign nationals were successfully detained at the entertainment centre.
“Initial checks found that all four did not possess any valid travel documents or passes allowing them to remain in the country,” he said in a statement today.
Zakaria said the entertainment centre was believed to have been operating since last year, targeting both local and foreign customers in the Klang Valley.
He said the premises offered entertainment and dance performances by foreign nationals, with customers charged between RM53 and RM700 depending on their drinks and table reservations.
The four foreign nationals are believed to have committed offences under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
They were subsequently taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for further action.
Meanwhile, three local men were issued notices to appear at the Immigration Department to assist with investigations.
