JPA Disciplinary Board To Review Report On Azam Baki Shareholding Issue

Date:

The Public Service Department (JPA) Disciplinary Board is expected to convene soon to review a report concerning the shareholding controversy involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar confirmed that both he and the Prime Minister have received the report prepared by the Special Investigation Committee. He said the document has since been forwarded to JPA for deliberation at the board’s upcoming meeting.

Shamsul Azri added that the issue is also likely to be raised during a Cabinet meeting, signalling the government’s continued attention to the matter. The review process is seen as part of broader efforts to ensure accountability and transparency within public institutions.

The government had earlier formed the Special Investigation Committee to examine allegations linked to Azam’s shareholdings after a Bloomberg report claimed he possessed millions of shares in a financial services company.

Azam has previously defended his actions, stating that his RM800,000 shareholding was declared openly and carried out in accordance with the required procedures. The outcome of the review by the disciplinary board is expected to clarify the next steps in the case.
