Heavy rain and fallen trees around Lembah Pantai, Bangsar and Kampung Kerinchi left motorists trapped in extraordinary traffic congestion for hours on Wednesday.
Several social media users shared accounts of being caught in slow-moving traffic for nearly five hours while trying to pick up their children from schools just a few kilometres from home.
Threads user @lyslysa said she spent almost five hours driving from Bangsar South, also known as Kampung Kerinchi, to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bangsar before returning to Pantai Hillpark.
A Google Maps search showed that the entire journey covered an estimated distance of just five to six kilometres.
Another Threads user, @ninakhairol, said she endured three hours of severe congestion after picking up her young child from a childcare centre at 5.40pm, arriving home only about three hours later.
The congestion followed a fallen tree incident on the Kerinchi Link Expressway, along the route from Bangsar towards Bukit Damansara, at around 5.10pm on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, five fallen-tree incidents were reported in Selangor, affecting areas around Puchong, Selayang and Rawang following severe weather across the Klang Valley.
