Police have not ruled out the possibility that debts linked to a traditional rotating savings scheme, known as kutu, could be among the factors behind the disappearance of a family of three in Taman Desa Bayanmas, Bukit Kayu Hitam, since July 20.
Kubang Pasu District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim said police have so far received a report from an individual who claimed to be a victim of the alleged kutu scheme involving the missing woman.
He said the husband, wife and their child have yet to be located, while investigations into their whereabouts are still ongoing.
Mohd Radzi added that checks conducted by police have so far found no evidence showing the family had travelled overseas.
“The investigation is still being carried out as a missing persons case, and police are seeking public assistance to provide any information if they come across them.
“Investigations are being conducted from all angles, including the possibility that they may have fallen victim to a criminal act or an accident,” he said when contacted today.
The three family members were reported missing after they left their home in Taman Desa Bayanmas on July 20 and could no longer be contacted.
Following unsuccessful attempts to locate them, the woman’s 62-year-old father lodged a police report at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Police Station yesterday regarding the disappearance of his daughter, son-in-law and grandchild.
