Lorry Driver Charged With Murder Over Fatal 11-Vehicle Crash That Killed Four

A 52-year-old lorry driver has been charged with murdering four people following an 11-vehicle crash along the East Coast Expressway on Aug 31.

Zulkarnain Md Noh was charged before Magistrate Nuur Fakhizaa Abu Bakar during proceedings held at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah.

No plea was recorded.

The four victims named in the charge were Muhammad Nazatullah Nazmi, 32; his wife, Nur Atiqah Sofiya Mohd Kazwan; their four-year-old son, Muhammad Armaan Nazeef; and Seow Beng Wai, 55.

Zulkarnain was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, with at least 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutors Najimi Arif Nasarudin and Anis Syakilla Zawawi appeared for the prosecution.

The court fixed Nov 12 for mention.
