A Myanmar national has been arrested over the suspected murder of a fellow citizen in Taman Maluri, Cheras, on Wednesday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the victim, believed to be in his early 20s, died at 10am at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) after suffering severe abdominal injuries.
“Acting on information, a team from the Cheras district police headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Division arrested the main suspect, in his 30s, at a premises around Taman Maluri at about noon,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Police also seized a pair of scissors believed to have been used as a weapon in the incident.
Fadil said checks showed that the suspect was unemployed and had no previous criminal record.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Police will apply for a remand order against the suspect today to facilitate further investigations, including a post-mortem examination at the HCTM Forensic Centre.
