Man Arrested With Over 1,400 Yaba And Epam Pills In Tumpat

Date:

A 49-year-old man was arrested after police seized various types of drugs, including more than 1,400 yaba and epam pills, in Kampung Jal Kechik, Tumpat, last night.

The operation was carried out by the Ninth Battalion of the General Operations Force (PGA) at about 11.30pm through Op Taring Wawasan.

Southeast Brigade PGA Commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain said the suspect was spotted riding a motorcycle in a suspicious manner during a patrol in the area.

He said a subsequent inspection found 1,395 yaba pills, 2g of syabu and 15 epam pills on the suspect and his motorcycle.

“Urine screening also found that the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.

Ahmad Radzi said during questioning, the suspect claimed that the drugs were supplied by a man known as ‘Kemal’ from Wakaf Bharu, Tumpat.

The suspect also allegedly admitted that the drug supply was intended to be distributed to smaller-scale dealers around the Tumpat district.

The total value of the seizure, including the motorcycle, was estimated at more than RM24,000.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries severe penalties upon conviction.
