Man Claims To Be Pathologist in Zara Qairina’s Autopsy, Faces Legal Action

Date:

A man who posed as a pathology expert on TikTok and falsely claimed to have been involved in the autopsy of Zara Qairina to determine her cause of death has been successfully tracked down by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and investigations are being carried out under several laws.

In a statement, the commission said the Ministry of Health had confirmed that the man, who used the account name “Dato’ Prof Dr. Tunku Iskandar,” is not a pathology expert.

The statement revealed that with information obtained from two individuals who had previously appeared on the suspect’s livestreams, MCMC was able to locate the suspect in the Kota Damansara area.

“The suspect was then taken to the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters to have his statement recorded, and his communication devices were seized for further analysis,” the statement said.

The commission sternly warned that spreading false information, especially on sensitive matters involving deaths, tragedies, or disaster victims, is a serious offence that could cause distress to families, mislead the public, and disrupt ongoing investigations by the authorities.

MCMC has initiated investigations under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and the report will be submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further instructions. If convicted, the suspect faces a maximum fine of RM500,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.

At the same time, police are also investigating the suspect under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code.
