A man died on board a Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney on Sept 16.
The flight, MH141, departed Kuala Lumpur in the morning and landed in Sydney at 7.40am Australian time after an eight-hour journey.
According to The Daily Mail Australia, the man was understood to be an Indian national in his 70s and reportedly suffered an asthma attack during the flight before dying.
Malaysia Airlines confirmed that a medical emergency occurred on board and said the passenger was travelling with a family member.
The airline said immediate medical assistance was provided, with three nurses, a doctor and a cabin crew member attending to the passenger and performing CPR.
However, the passenger could not be revived and was pronounced dead by the doctor on board. Malaysia Airlines did not confirm the cause of death.
“Malaysia Airlines extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased passenger. The airline regrets the inconvenience experienced by passengers affected by the disruption to flights MH141 and MH140 and appreciates their understanding,” the airline said.
The airline added that the safety and well-being of its passengers remained a priority.
The Daily Mail Australia reported that New South Wales Police were not investigating the death.
