An elderly man was killed while a teenage student was injured after the motorcycles they were riding separately crashed into a fallen tree blocking the road near Kampung Senggang, close to Sungai Perak, on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at about 6.58am, claiming the life of a 72-year-old man, while a 17-year-old male student sustained injuries.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call at 6.58am.
A team of eight firefighters from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station, together with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arriving at 7.16am, firefighters found that two motorcycles—a Yamaha LC and a Yamaha Lagenda—had collided with a tree that had fallen across the road.
The 17-year-old victim had already been taken to hospital by a Ministry of Health (MOH) ambulance before firefighters arrived.
The 72-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene by MOH medical personnel.
After ensuring there were no further hazards at the location, firefighters handed the scene over to the police for further investigation.
Sabarodzi said the operation was brought under control at 7.21am and concluded at 7.46am.
