Man Pleads Guilty To Four Separate Break-Ins Across Kota Bharu

Date:

An unemployed man pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here on Wednesday to four charges of breaking into two laundromats and two office premises in separate incidents that took place around Kota Bharu between June 24 and July 8.

Mohamad Shahrul Fariman Azrisham, 31, admitted to all the charges after they were read before Sessions Court Judge Nik Habri Muhamad.

According to the first charge, the accused broke into an office at Menara Saujana, Jalan Hospital, Kampung Paya Bemban, at about 9am on June 24. He was also charged with breaking into the National Information Dissemination Centre office along Jalan Long Yunus at about 9.50am on July 6.

The court further heard that he unlawfully entered a laundromat in Kampung Paya Bemban at around 2.30am on July 7 before allegedly breaking into another self-service laundromat, Dobi Layan Diri Rizqi, at Wisma WNC, Jalan Hospital, Kampung Paya Bemban, at about 10am the following day.

All four charges were brought under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine upon conviction. If the offence is committed with the intention of stealing, the punishment may extend to 14 years’ imprisonment, while repeat offenders may also face a fine or whipping.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Kamarul Hasyime Rosli, while the accused was unrepresented during the proceedings.

The court denied bail and fixed Aug 26 for the presentation of the case facts and sentencing.

The case highlights the serious legal consequences faced by individuals involved in repeated property crimes, with authorities continuing to pursue firm action against offences that threaten public safety and the security of business premises.
