A MCA office in Yong Peng along Jalan Nipah was almost completely destroyed after being engulfed in a fire on Saturday night.
Yong Peng Fire and Rescue operations commander, Senior Fire Officer II Muhammad Amier Syah Hamzah, said emergency services received a distress call at 8.28pm.
He said 14 firefighters, supported by two Fire and Rescue Tender (FRT) units and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle from the Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Station, were deployed to the scene.
The fire involved a semi-permanent office building measuring approximately 100 feet in length, 70 feet in width and 20 feet in height.
According to the department, about 80 per cent of the structure was affected by the blaze before firefighters managed to bring it under control using hose lines and a 200-foot water supply line.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident, and the operation was fully concluded at 9.56pm.
The cause of the fire and total losses are still under investigation.
Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon confirmed the incident when contacted.
He said the building serves as an MCA activity centre and is also a 70-year-old landmark in the area.
Ling, who is also Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman, reportedly went live on Facebook while at the scene during the incident.
