A 57-year-old mechanic was charged at the Sessions Court here today with five counts of allegedly committing sexual abuse against his two step-grandchildren, aged four and seven, in incidents that reportedly took place in 2025 and June this year.
The accused pleaded not guilty after all charges were read out before Sessions Court Judge Norhamizah Shaiffuddin.
For the first charge, the accused, who was said to hold a position of trust as the victims’ step-grandfather, was alleged to have committed physical sexual assault against a four-year-old child for sexual purposes.
He was accused of committing the offence inside a room at a house in Hutan Melintang, Bagan Datuk, at about 12.30pm on June 6, 2026.
The accused was also charged with a second offence involving the same victim, where he was alleged to have committed non-physical sexual abuse by exposing the child to visual material containing sexual content at the same location and time.
The alleged act was said to have occurred in 2025.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutors Izzudin Fakri Hamdan and Anisah Pisol requested that bail be set at RM10,000 for each charge as the accused was unrepresented.
The court later granted bail of RM6,000 for each charge, with an additional condition requiring the accused to report to a police station every month.
The accused was also advised to seek legal representation through the National Legal Aid Foundation, while the case has been fixed for mention on August 12.
