MetMalaysia Issues Alert: Wild Weather Ahead For Malaysia From Sept 30 To November

Date:

Malaysia is bracing for volatile weather as the country moves into the monsoon transition phase from September 30 to November, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia). This shift signals the end of the Southwest Monsoon, in effect since May 10.

MetMalaysia says weak winds from various directions during this period will fuel the development of thunderstorms that typically bring intense downpours and powerful gusts, especially in the evenings and at night. Areas expected to be hit include Sarawak, most western and inland parts of Peninsular Malaysia, and western Sabah.

The department warns the conditions could spark flash floods, uproot trees, cause sudden surges in rivers and damage fragile structures. The public is urged to remain alert and check MetMalaysia’s website, the myCuaca app and official social media channels for real-time forecasts and warnings. Enquiries can also be made via the hotline 1-300-22-1638.
