A 26-year-old Kafa teacher who was reported missing on Aug 23 has been found safe at a house in Kampung Bukit Payong, Mukim Gajah Mati, Pokok Sena, Kedah early Wednesday morning.
Barat Daya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuwal Ab Wahab said Mohamad Hijazi Zamri was located by police following further investigations and efforts to trace his whereabouts.
He said checks showed that the man was in good condition and had not suffered any physical injuries.
“Mohamad Hijazi was previously reported to have left his home in Lilitan Sungai Ara at about 8.40pm on Aug 22 while riding a blue Yamaha LC135 motorcycle.
“He subsequently could not be contacted and did not return home,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Anuwal said the man was taken to the Bayan Lepas police station for further action before being handed over to his family.
He also expressed his appreciation to everyone who assisted in the search efforts, which eventually led to the teacher being located.
The police chief urged the public not to speculate or circulate unverified information regarding the case, stressing that inaccurate claims could cause unnecessary confusion.
Police had earlier confirmed receiving a report on Mohamad Hijazi’s disappearance and classified the case as a missing person investigation.
The teacher was reported missing after leaving his home in Sungai Ara on Aug 22. His father lodged a police report the following day after he failed to return and could not be contacted.
Initial investigations found that Mohamad Hijazi had asked his mother for permission to travel to Surau Al-Muttaqin in Lilitan Sungai Ara on his Yamaha LC135, bearing registration number PQG275.
However, he did not return home, prompting his family to seek police assistance in locating him.
