Motorcyclist Dies In Brutal Kuantan Multi-Vehicle Crash

Date:

A motorcyclist was killed in a horrific road accident after he was reportedly flung onto the roof of a car following a collision along the Kuantan–Kemaman Road near Masjid Tengku Panglima Perang in Sungai Karang on Thursday.

In the 7pm incident, the victim, identified as Rosdi Shamsuddin, 42, from Kampung Darat Sekolah Beserah, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe injuries sustained in the crash.

Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah, said the accident involved a Yamaha 135 LC motorcycle, a Proton Savvy, and a Perodua Bezza, with both car drivers aged 21 and 22 reported unhurt.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred when the Proton Savvy, driven by a mechanic, was travelling from Kuantan towards Balok before failing to avoid the motorcycle, which was believed to have emerged from a left junction, resulting in a collision.

Following the impact, the victim and his motorcycle were thrown into the opposite lane before being struck by a Perodua Bezza driven by a woman travelling from Balok towards Kuantan. The victim was then found on the roof of the vehicle and was confirmed dead at the scene.

The body was sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) for post-mortem, while blood and urine samples were collected for toxicology analysis.

Police are also tracing witnesses to assist investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
