Three Men Nabbed In Beaufort Diesel Smuggling Bust, 1,000 Litres Seized

Date:

Authorities have foiled an alleged diesel diversion attempt after three men were detained and about 1,000 litres of the controlled fuel were seized during an enforcement operation at a petrol station in Pekan Beaufort.

The raid also led to the confiscation of a modified four-wheel-drive vehicle, an electric fuel pump, a hose, and several related documents, with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM23,320.

According to Beaufort KPDN District Chief Enforcement Officer Jamiah Bakar, the operation took place at around 10.45pm on June 3, following intelligence gathered by enforcement teams in the area.

Preliminary checks revealed that the suspects had allegedly modified the vehicle’s fuel tank to store diesel, allowing them to divert the subsidised fuel for other purposes.

Jamiah said the seized items, including the vehicle and equipment used, are now part of the ongoing investigation under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, as part of a wider crackdown under Ops Tiris 4.0.

She added that the coordinated operation involved the General Operations Force (PGA) Battalion 16 and KPDN officers working together to curb leakage of subsidised goods, particularly diesel, which continues to impact national resources.

Authorities stressed that strict action will be taken against any individuals or parties found involved in the illegal handling of controlled items, as such activities disrupt supply chains and affect intended beneficiaries.

The case remains under investigation, while the public has been urged to report any suspected fuel diversion activities through official complaint channels to support enforcement efforts.
